OGA POLICE!!!

“Oga park well…”

“Sir, I am a Doctor and I have a medical emergency, I didn’t mean to take ‘one-way’ but I can’t allow a patient die while I sit in traffic”

“Who you dey tell that kine lie?”

Brings out ID card,

“Officer, see my id card,  also if you look you can see my stethoscope in my car. I was just summoned that a young boy had an accident and was rushed to the hospital, other doctors are on strike but I can’t afford for the boy to die. That’s why I decided to rush there.”

“Na Ogun go kill you and the boy”

Roughly pushes open the door of the Doctor’s jeep and pulls him out by the neck.

"Officer, the law allows medical personnel on emergency to take any route possible."

“You be ambulance? Abi your jeep na LASAMBUS?”

Officer please do not be angry,  I seek only to save a life, I am sorry for going against the law.

“he he he. Na me you dey speak english for? You go see pepper today.” “where your particulars?”

The good doctor hands him the vehicle particulars. Just then his phone rings

Grring   Grring

“hello,”

he listens for a bit,

“put him on morphine, prep the theatre for surgery. If he flatlines use the defilbrator. I will be there presently” hangs up.

Officer, okay how can we resolve this amicably. I really need to go now. The patient might not survive another 30 minutes

“to bail yourself out go and bring 100,000”

"Aah aan, Oga police, it is people like you that keep giving the force a bad name. I will pay no bribe. If you insist that I am at fault, impound my car, I will take a taxi to the hospital and later I will have my lawyer come to the station. If I have broken any law, let us meet in court."

The Doctor moves to walk away.

The policeman cocks his gun. Take one more step and I go fire. I go just waste your life and I go talk say you be armed robber.

The Doctor is shocked to his bones.

The policeman beckons his colleagues who also come and together they begin to abuse and even slap the doctor.

You dey insult policeman? We go teach you lesson today.

Oya enter the van…

3 Hours later.

The Doctor has had to call his lawyer, a very popular SAN to meet him in the station, who after threatening to call the commissioner of police finally secures his release.

“Just before I go I want to meet the officer who arrested me. I have something to tell him”

“Officer yinusa no dey” another officer chimed. “ almost immediately we reach here n aim hin wife call am for phone. Him cum rush commot”

“God saved him” Just let him know, if anything happens to that poor boy. The blood will be on his head.

*************************************************************************************

The Doctor Drove like a mad man to the hospital.

However he was too late, the boy had long been dead…

The nurse walks shakily to the doctor. The father of the dead boy is a policeman. He is threatening to arrest the doctor who didn’t care enough to come and attend to an accident victim on time.

“oh no. not another police encounter today” the doctor walked with sadness etched on his face to attempt to explain to the Father that it was another policeman who caused the death of his son.

He walked into the waiting room and behold Officer Yinusa stood in front of him.

“… erm erm oga… na .. you… be … the … doc..cc.. tor?”

What? It was your son that was involved in an accident?

“Well well well, officer,  you are the one responsible for the death of your own son.”

If only our policemen could learn to do the right thing and follow due process.  How many more innocent boys have to die? How many more innocent citizens felled by police bullets then paraded as armed robbers shot while escaping? How many more wives made widows, children made orphans, all for selfish purposes.  When will the police learn to stop harassing the people they swore to protect?

“Officer I bear you no grudge, and I am sorry about the death of your son, however I hope this will jolt you and your colleagues to become professional in your conduct, doing the right thing at all times.”

FIND THE VOID... FILL IT!

When BIG COLA launched out...

Many sneered.
"These ones can't compete with coke or Pepsi was the popular narrative.
However I saw something different. Nigerians always want more for less and with it's massive bottle BIG COLA was set to fill that void...

Few weeks down the line BIG was gaining traction and Pepsi was forced to go back to the drawing board and we witnessed the birth of Pepsi 60cl 'Longthroat' bottle.
"Whew they got to Pepsi, I trust coke dem no go shake" became the new rhetoric.

But before you know it the giants in the soft drink industry felt sufficiently threatened to renew the 'share a coke' campaign.
However as ingenious as the idea was when it broke last year, it had run it's course and couldn't gain as much steam as before.

Meanwhile BIG COLA kept spreading like wildfire reaching the nook and crannies of Nigeria.
Few days ago 'Almighty coke' danced to the beat of BIG and out came the new 60cl coke.(20% extra limited time offer)

Who told you that you can't succeed in business because there are already major players in the industry you are delving Into?

Do your research, find the void and FILL IT!
Thankfully, I recognized the potential in BIG COLA and got involved on time.
2016 is already going fast
Play a bigger game.

SANITIZING THE NIGERIAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM... DIVINE INTERVENTION OR SCAPE GOAT NEEDED???

On Sunday, 10th January 2016, just few days ago, as I drove to church, I came across an accident scene on Oregun road; a mobile police man had been thrown off his bike after hitting a turning Hilux van. (Whether he should have been riding a bike that if ordinary citizens tried riding would have been seized is a story for another day.)

Well the First Aider in me kicked in as I promptly parked, joined ohers who had stopped and checked him, only a few bruises were noticeable, but after asking how the accident happened and learning he had literally been thrown across the hilux and landed head first, it was decided it would be better to rush him to the nearest hospital for proper check up.
I volunteered to take him to the hospital, hoping my Red Cross membership would be vial to getting him attended to promptly.

With hazard lights blinking and horns blaring I made for the hospital as fast as I could and drove into the medical emergency ward. The attendant on duty (I don’t want to dignify by calling her a nurse as I believe a nurse would have been concerned with lives.) flippantly replied, “We don’t handle accidents here; find your way to the surgical emergency for accident cases”. I thanked her and she went back o disinterestedly doing whatever she was before we got there.

We went further down to the surgical emergency. We got there a few minutes past 8am, and first things first we collected a card, filled it and were asked to sit, after sitting till past 10am, a nurse finally came and gave him a shot of TT.  The wait continued until he was finally attended to around 11am. With drugs being written down and him being advised to take an x-tray.

I was baffled because if he had any internal injuries chances are the man might just collapse and die on his way home. (Well thankfully he didn’t and he is recovering well now.)

Anyway that aside, those three hours in the surgical emergency of that hospital showed me a lot and taught me about how sanctity for human life has become degraded.

An armed robbery victim was rushed in from a private hospital,(name withheld) he had been cut severely by the robbers and the private hospital had apparently done what they could before transferring him to this particular Government hospital,(Name withheld but your guess is as good as mine) hence he came in heavily bandaged and with an iv line attached to him. However he was still losing a lot of blood, and groaning in pain. It was a Good Samaritan that had spotted the man being robbed and ‘macheted’ and had rushed him to the hospital even though he was wearing only a boxer shorts and t-shirt.

As a first Aider my heart went out to him, and I thanked God he had been brought into the hospital (As a first aider your Job ends there) and I expected to see the hospital staff swing into Action. Alas they continued their banters as if nothing had happened. The driver of the makeshift ambulance was accompanied by two staff of the private hospital who presented some papers to the people at the reception desk. Lo and behold they pronounced first go and get a card.  next they began to complain, saying a whole(name of private hospital) sending us a paient. anyway, a card was gotten and filled and then the next pronouncement shook me to my bones.

“We are sorry there is NO BED!”

What? This must be a joke I guessed, but lo and behold the patient whose survival depended largely on being attended to immediately, was left lying and groaning in the back of the Volvo van(makeshift ambulance) for over 30minutes. I would walk out and back inside the ward with tears on my face, I went to the ambulance severally, the man was coherent intermittently, but there was nothing I could do at that point. The man needed urgent attention by qualified medical personnel.

Eventually a woman who seemed to be coordinating finally asked that one woman go take the vitals of the casualty, and I heard another response that shook me to the bone.

Emi ti close o, mo fe ma lo le. In English: me I have closed o, I want to go home.

I wondered what happened to the sanctity of human life. Finally his vitals were taken, a bed was brought out from somewhere inside, a patient in the emergency ward transferred to that bed, and then the emergency bed/stretcher taken out to bring the casualty in. AFTER ALMOST AN HOUR!!!

Immediately he was brought in, they all began running helter-skelter to save his life, and I shook my head at the hypocrisy. As far as I was concerned if that man dies his blood is solely on the Surgical Emergency staff of the big government hospital in Ikeja.

What or who then do we blame?

The lack of beds?

The lackadaisical attitude of the staff?

Do we need divine intervention in the medical line?

If a teaching hospital can treat human life this way, then what do we expect from other hospitals?

Or do we need some staffs to be sacked so others can sit up?

As I shared my experience with a fellow staff in the office this morning she reminded me of the case of a mutual friend who was shot a few years ago by robbers and rushed to this same hospital. Lo and behold, NO BED!!!

How can this worrisome trend be allowed to continue?  What is needed to be done?

DIVINE INTERVENTION OR SCAPEGOAT NEEDED?

THE BELIEVER'S PLIGHT 1

I Don come again with my usual weird titles... Well weird but important.

Today's discuss is simple,  and if you disagree with me feel free to voice your comments.
I grew up hearing this statement, let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich. In fact I heard it as a song and as a recitation, even before I found out it was in the bible it had been sunk into my head.(take note).

Thus for as far back as I can remember whenever I fall sick I would run to my parents and say I am strong, they would then monitor me and take me to the hospital.

Fast forward to when I started working, I woke up one morning and was so weak. Decided to go to the office and ask for a day or two off. And so I marched to my boss' office confidently and said to her, "ma please I would like to take today and tomorrow off," "why?" She asked? 'I'm feeling strong' . she looked at me, smiled knowingly and said, only the sick need rest. Since you are strong. Go back to work.
I kept looking at her as a devil in disguise and I worked under splitting headaches all day, finally closed and by the second day I couldn't get out of bed. I had to call in sick(so my salary would not be deducted for absence)

Shockingly as soon as I called her and in my shaky voice told her I was too ill to come to the office, she chuckled and said to myself, rest, take medications and also take the next day off to revocer properly. I was stunned... Was this not the same woman who refused me permission to get some rest the day before?

I resolved to talk to her candidly once i was fit and back in the office... I had several questions for her.

When i said i was strong(Professing my faith) she refused me leave
when i admitted being sick, i got an extra day off work
Was she trying to kill my faith? but she is supposedly a believer also?

watch out for the concluding episode.....

SPEAKING PROPS... THE INSIDE SCOOP

Have you ever felt public speaking was something meant for men called gods like Martin Luther King?

Did you know that a public speaker's message is woven into his personality; a good blend is a great combination that is powerful?

Have you been speaking for free and you loathe the fact that phenomenal speakers are lugging home outrageous amounts for speaking?

Are you considering going into public speaking full time?

Do you feel the pangs of fear that make your knees buckle and your speech slurred whenever you stand before people to speak?

Are you often confused on how to properly pronounce some English words and that makes you look like as a wanna-be?

If you have considered the questions above and found yourself fitting into one of these questions above, then keep calm and read on.

SPEAKING PROPS is a Masterclass for public speakers, thought leaders, business leaders and TV/radio presenters.

The first edition held in Port Harcourt on the 30th of May, 2014. Abuja edition held on the 15th of November, 2014. Lagos edition is scheduled to hold on the 20th of June, 2015.

There will be five sessions facilitated by awesome speakers:

1. PSYCHOLOGY OF PUBLIC SPEAKING.

Public Speaking is not rhetoric. It is meant to be a persona. You shouldcarry your message from inside you. The original power in public speakingis derived from being a walking, living version of your message.

There is a psychology to public speaking. Your first few words, yourfacial countenance, your gait and salutation can make or mar your speechpresentation.

How do you grip this psychology and use it to your advantage?

During this session, BANKOLE WILLIAMS @iambankole will teach participantswhat the psychology is and how to use it to their advantage.

2. OVERCOMING FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING.

Many individuals have messages within them, yearning to be shared to theworld. But, standing in a room of just five persons, they tremble, sweat, or even piss in their pants. The fear of public speaking is one of theworst fears in human history. However, this can be overcome, not by usingdrugs or narcotics, but by effective strategies that work.

CHINONSO OGBOGU @chinonsowrites will share with participants on how toovercome this fear.

3. BUSINESS OF PUBLIC SPEAKING.

Many speakers speak for free, and that’s fine. But you can earn a fee bydoing something you usually do for free. That’s where the business aspectsets in. Speaking is a value-adding enterprise. How do you fashion yourproduct? How do you structure your offering to be valuable and profitable?

STEVE HARRIS @iamsteveharris will share with participants on how to do thebusiness of their speaking.

4. PHONETICS, ELOCUTION AND SPEECH PRESENTATION STRATEGIES.

Phonetics isn’t just to speak like oyinbo people. Keeping your wordssimple so you don’t lose your audience is key. Sounding your wordsproperly is paramount. Modulations, using a key example like Martin Lutheris essential to a fantastic speech delivery.

EKUNDAYO ODELE @ekundayoodele will share these strategies participants.

5. PROPPING YOUR SPEAKING ANTICS

What do you do when you are invited to speak? What’s the place of
PowerPoint slides in your presentation? How do you start preparations?
What do you do if you are running late to an event? Should you stay behindwhen you are done speaking at an event? What is the use of feedbacksheets? What has time got to do with your delivery?

EMEKA NOBIS @iamemekanobis will share effective strategies that can propyour speaking antics and position you to be invited again and again byclients.

Date: 20th June, 2015

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fee: N25, 000 (covers light breakfast & lunch, free e-books and all theslides of the sessions).

DANCE OR DIE???

Afternoon my people... I hope you are having a fabulous day? This post is dedicated to the courageous christians being killed by boko haram in the north and those slaughtered by isis and all facing persecution all around the world.

I remember several years ago... precisely in august 2005 on Solid Foundation camp in Ipaja. The theme was AWESOME GOD(if I remember correctly) and I had an encounter that changed my life forever.

A certain pastor had been invited to preach and he titled his message
DANCE OR DIE... TAKE YOUR STAND
that day as he jocularly recited the title in a singsong manner periodically all through the message and we chanted alongside him never did I know that what he was talking about would have long lasting impact for me and even set the course for the rest of my life.
His lesson centered on 3 hebrew children who had come to be known as Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego who refused to dance before or bow to the graven image the king had constructed. They were told in clear terms DANCE OR DIE!

Their choice is still being celebrated today... Same question the christians in the north are facing... Dance or Die... not to talk of the several mass killings of christians by islamic militant group ISIS.
This is a wake up call to christians all over the world... If you were presented with the same option would your faith stand strong in the dace of sure death?

Enough of lip service... Let's dig in our feet and root for christ till the end... come what may...
Many of us are comfortable with our current situations and we think it's not necessary to make our stand known. Christians at the peak of Entertainment, etc...
NEYMAR broke that jinx and made his stand known during one of the most keenly watched matched in football history. Will you take your stand?

I TAKE MY STAND...
I'm 100%  for JESUS

THE DEATH SERIES: EPISODE 3: THE HEAVEN DILEMA

Hello family... Top of the morning to you,  it's getting hotter as this series goes on... several people have called to chastize me while some others have called to agree with me...
However i owe anyone who disagrees no apology, we are sometimes so entrenched in the status quo that we find it hard to understand Truth even when it's light shines directly on us.

Anyway i will be glad to answer any questions, simply direct them to tgbamila@gmail.com

Today we go straight to EPISODE 3: THE HEAVEN DILEMA

As usual a strange title, but if I must be honest to myself I am really in a dilema as regards the existence of Heaven to the believer.( Hold on, I have not back slided yet) but everytime I see a death and the attendant reactions from christians I am forced to wonder if Heaven is real.

I grew up hearing stories about the beauty of Heaven, how the streets are paved with gold and how there are crowns waiting for the believer who gets there.  However the only downside to it is that it is not immediately accessible to us. we have to wait for either death or for the rapture.
I remember a particular sunday school where a little boy stood up, raised his hands and said, "Aunty, why can't we all go to heaven now?" the adults burst into laughter.

Herein lies my Dilema; if heaven is real with all the attendant glory, and the only two ways to access it is either death or rapture, how come those are the two occurences most dreaded by the church today. the mention of the second coming of Christ in some churches today seems like taboo, whilst every prayerband is praying against the spirit of death. A secular musician who got puzzled had to sing "...Nobody wan die but them wan go heaven..."

As much as Christ has conquered death and given us access to life, if death is the only way to get to heaven for now, since Christ tarries, then why are christians so terrified of dying? does it mean they do not really believe what they confess about heaven being a better place? does it mean some believers do not really believe what they profess?

Apostle Paul was so happy to die, he said he had fought a good fight, had finished the race and was now ernestly waiting for the crown Christ will give him on the day of reckoning and then he made a profound statement that not only him, but a prize also awaits those who look forward eagerly to the day of Christ's coming.

I was listening to Benefit of Death recently, a message preached by Archbishop Benson Idahosa before he passed on to glory and I heard this "Pa Elton said to me Don't raise me from the dead when I die infact 6hours after I die bury me.. I have served God for 56years... I have done every thing God asked me to do. Don't buy a coffin, wrap me in a cloth and bury me; use the money for coffin to buy tracts and share to people And that's exactly what we did" -
Archbishop B.A Idadosa.

in my opinion that was a man who firmly believed in Heaven, and wanted to go there. his instruction "...Don't raise me from the dead when i die" is instructive. he knew he had lived a life of purpose and he was ready to go home to be with the lord.

My conclusion is this, The minute you truly believe Heaven is real and heaven awaits you when you die, you stop being afraid of death and concentrate on making maximum impact here on earth because you know your time here on earth is limited. that way when the master comes to take you home, you stretch your arms to him lovingly saying "Receive me."

THE DEATH SERIES: EPISODE 2: WHY LONG LIFE?

I hope you enjoyed Episode 1 and i hope you got blessed? if you want me to expantiate more on how you can prepare for death like i suggested in episode 1 stay tuned and i'm sure by the end of the series you will be better educated.

Today's episode is titled Why Long Life?

First of all please don't get me wrong i am not against people having a full and long life, what i am against is having a long life void of impact. i feel like of what use is it living till 120 years of age as a liability being carried about, what use is it being 75years old and you are a security man on a street earning less than 5,000 a month and you are still praying for long life? i feel somehow when you see 80years old men living under the bridge or on the streets(you think i'm exagerrating? you need to visit Lagos) and still praying for long life. Long life is good, but why not make it worth it?

Many times i thank God that he doesn't think like man, because if he did i'm quite sure many who have failed to discover purpose would have been withdrawn from the earth long ago... however that's a conversation for another day.

Why long life? when next you decide to pray for long life, imagine God asking you why do you want to live long? and watch out for your answers

i came across a post by a Pastor Friend of mine that asked a factual question that i throw to you today...
Which is the better prayer: TO DIE OLD
                                              or
                                      TO DIE EMPTY

in other words it is possible for one to live to very old age and yet not use up to 30percent of the potentials deposited in him. to me that is a wasted life; however one can  die at a relatively young age and yet have lived life to it's fullest capacity, emptying all his/her God given ability into the world in the time spent here on earth.

Jesus Died at the age of 33 and yet you would agree with me that  he had fulfilled purpose on earth
Archbishop Idahosa died at the age of 60 and you would agree with me that he had lived life to capacity.
Myles Munroe also died at the age of 60 and if you think he didn't fulfill purpose then think again

Now while i would personally have loved that these people had lived longer(so i could get to meet them personally and get impacted more) yet their minisrty proves they left lasting legacies behind.

hence, a long life does not automatically mean a fulfilled life. neither does the fact that a person doesn't live to be 80, 90 or 100 years old mean that he didn't fulfil destiny.

My conclusion on the matter is this, longlife is good, but make sure it's purpose driven, in the words of Myles Munroe(1954-2014) " the greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without purpose"
so when next you open your mouth to pray ask yourself, Do i pray to to die old or to die empty?
God Bless You.  have a great weekend

THE DEATH SERIES: EPISODE 1: PREPARE FOR DEATH

Calvary greetings to my very lovely friends, family, well wishers and fans, and even first time readers,

I know the topic seems kinda scary but I must say it is a topic that needs to be talked about.

I'll be talking from several perspectives during these episodes and I hope you all flow along with me as I attempt to look at things from an angle that defies the status quo. The articles will also not be lengthy but just enough to spark up new patterns of reasoning

Disclaimer: Please I know I might offend the Religious sensibilities of some people, please pardon me, it is not a religious post and I am simply committed to viewing things as they are:
Finally my aim is to Demystify Death and thus making death lose it's power on the child of God. Join me on this series
EPISODE 1 is titled: PREPARE FOR DEATH

What exactly is death? the Dictionary defines death as- the action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.
and truly for all intent and purposes this definition serves

Now the truth is this: even from primary school days or was it early secondary school days when we were taught attributes of living things (MR NIGER D) we have all known that death is the final end of man. however, although intellectually we all know that one day we shall die, generally we are so reluctant to think of our death that this knowledge does not touch our hearts, and we live our life as if we were going to be in this world forever.

As a result the things of this world – such as material possessions, reputation, popularity, and the pleasures of the senses – become of paramount importance, so we devote almost all our time and energy to obtaining them and engage in many negative actions for their sake. We are so preoccupied with the concerns of this life that there is little room in our mind for genuine spiritual practice. When the time of death actually arrives we discover that by having ignored death all our life we are completely unprepared.

My dad's favourite saying on death is: "It is only a fool that does not prepare for what he cannot avoid"

he would at intervals call us and say, when I die, I want you to do this and do that... as at the time I was 15years old, I knew my father wanted to be buried anywhere he died, he didn't want any transporting of his body from one state to the other and most importantly he didn't want anyone to borrow even a kobo to bury him. by the way i'm in my late 20's now and my dad is still very much alive and well, but we all know what to do and what steps to take if he dies, or if his wife(of course my mum) dies or if they both die.

Another recent case is that handled by one of my Pastors(I won't say his name for confidential reasons) where by the time the man died, his family rushed in with a list of all the man's proiperties to make sure the wife didn't hide anything. they stripped this woman empty even before the burial, then proceded to put her through all sort of inhumane experiences in this age and time all in the name of culture.

There have been several other scenarios of people who die unexpectedly leaving their family with huge bills to settle in burial and other things, there have been cases of people who have numerous assets but die without disclosure hence their family live in poverty after their deaths.

Hence my first conclusion for today is simple: I won't in anyway stop anyone from praying for longlife  but While Praying For Long life and prosperity, start preparing for death... make physical plans to have your estate in order, to take care of family and children (if any) basically do all you can to make life easier for those you will leave behind...

THE SALIENT POINT

Calvary greetings guys and i say happy sunday to you, i know or hope many of you are already heading to church or in church already so would see this after service... however i just wanna share something with you all and i hope it causes us to think deeply.

Nigeria is host to the largest church auditorium in the world
Nigeria is also host to One of the largest Congregation in the world.
Majority of Nigerians attend one church or the other on Sunday
Nigerians majorly are a very religious lot.
Nigeira has the largest number of Penticostal Pastors in the world
Nigeria hosts some of the richest pastors in the world.
Nigerians are London's biggest spenders
                    Yet
Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries in the world
Nigeria is becoming home to some really mundane practices
Boko Haram has been having a field day
The Standard of living for most people doesn't seem to be improving
Nigerians are some of the poorest people in the world.
Crime rates are on the rise in Nigeria daily

The Salient Point...
Of what use is our salvation if we can't impact our world?
We go to church religiously every sunday and yet it seems that is all there is to it.
how about if we decided to take a different approach? what is we stopped restricting ourselves to those sunday sunday gatherings in massive cathedrals, and also added some community development initiatives? personally i mean. what if we stopped dusting and bringing out our bibles only on service days and actually begin to show love to our neigbhours everyday?  What if we began to reach people not only with the written word of God but with the evidence of obedience to scriptures?

don't get me wrong, i love going to church and fellowshipping with the brethren(i even work in church so i guess i pass on that point) but the salient point is, if we restrict ourselves to fellowshipping with believers, who will show love and minister to that area boy? Remember the area boy you did not reachout to with God's love becomes the potential armed robber or election thug tomorrow.
Let's not just play church, Let's become christians.(Christlike)

I AM ADDICTED

Well sha... i know this title will get you all wondering...
but there it is...i have said it, i gradually became an addict.(it feels so ominous).
however i'm owning up to you all first for myself and then for you all. many people seem to think inspirational speakers, ministers and writers are above reproach and are probably one step away from heaven. well while i can't talk for all i can talk for myself. and maybe a few others in the Bible like Elijah etc who were men of like passion. even a pastor is first of all a christian and thus has his own battles to fight and overcome same as every other believer. yea back to my story.

For years i have kidded myself, i have told myself i just like drinking, if i feel like i can stop, it's not harmful to me and all sorts, but truth be told, those were all excuses i was giving myself to cover up the face that i had become an addict.

once i tried to stay away from drinking for 3 days, i succeeded but at the end of the third day i walked briskly to a kiosk, bought a drink and gulped it all down, got a second and did same, then i finally got a third one that i took home and drank leisurely.  another time i went off drinking for two full weeks but the story remained same. immediately i got off my two week ban i relapsed.

guys normally i would average 8 bottles a day, but lately i have been able to cut down to roughtly 4 bottles a day. and i usually applaud myself that i have done well, but truth be told, even 4 bottles a day is just as harmful.

hence today i tell myself the truth i am addicted to soft drinks and it's time for me to kick it!!!
yea i know at this point some of you would laugh and say i'm a joker but be it soft drink, or alcoholic drinks, or food, or drugs, or cigarettes or anything at all, an addiction is an addiction and if it is not kicked in time it could destroy you.

So today is day one of my being 'clean', it's been a tussle so far, as i type this 3 empty bottle of water sit on my office table, and i have had about 2 more when i went out. it's not going to be easy i know but it is possible and it is worth it...
i know i'm still a work in progress but i enjoin you to come with me on this journey as we kick off negative addictions together. this is the process i intend using
1. Admit you are an addict
2. Make up your mind to kick the addiction
3. Ask God to help you overcome the addiction
4. become accounntable to someone or some people
5. Make conscious effort (as much as in your power stay away from triggers)
6. if you slip, don't beat yourself up or give up and slide back into your addiction pick yourself up and ask God for strength to continue
7.Build your spirit man (this will give you an edge over the flesh) Gal 5:16
i hope someone will join me on this train to put an end to addiction, in taking back our lives.

that's all for now, i'm Minister Effizey and i'm an addict
